grrrrrrr.

DELETED!!!!

overthought at 11:54:54 PM by a hole in the world

sleep is overrated...

Definitely something I've been getting very little of lately. It's by choice, though. I mean, yeah, I could sleep, but my theory is: you can sleep when you die. What can you do when you're asleep? Nothing but rest. That's why I stay awake as much as possible.

I've been staying up lately for this program "The 11th Hour" on the Tampa Bay area's only free-form community radio station, WMNF. No commercials is always always nice.

But I stay up because that's the only legitimate time that I get to listen to real music. In case you hadn't noticed, upwards of 98% of the stuff that gets played on the radio is totally bogus. I can rant for hours and hours on this.

Music to me is like the two supposedly "forbidden" topics that "you shouldn't discuss just because", those two being religion and politics. People have their religions (or lack thereof) for their own particular purpose, and it's the same thing for politics. People believe in their political parties because of their own reasons. No one can debate either way on either subject because it's personal preference. Convincing arguments aren't even a requirement: "just because" is good enough. That's the way it's always been.

Point is, I love to debate. Next semester we may have a debate club (we're throwing around the idea at school). I like to hear what people have to say about religion and politics, and especially music. I tend to believe (and I've been told as such before) that I have great taste in music.

The reason being? I put effort into finding good music. I was thinking about it today, and if people have to whore themselves out and resort to finding their "good music" on the "New Releases" rack at KMart, they're not trying. If you can find your best CDs in Walgreens or Eckerd or CVS (all 3 now have an entire gondola dedicated to music), then you're not making enough effort.

Go on Kazaa, go on Morpheus, go on iSwipe. That's what they're there for: pirated music!

If you think what is played on the radio is the best you can find, you are sorely mistaken. It is oftentimes the bands that get nary a second of radioplay that are rated the best overall.

Yes, there has been a resurgence in good music played on the radio lately (see: The White Stripes). But I'm afraid for Jack and Meg because the corporate hand of God (a/k/a ClearChannel, which now apparently has plans to purchase the ENTIRE UNIVERSE) has gotten ahold of them.

I would go into the subject of "garage rock" but I don't want to bore anybody (IT'S NOT GARAGE ROCK, STOP CALLING IT THAT!!!).

School today... 'twas good. DELETED!!!!
