yay for birthdays!

Happy 14th Birthday Andrew...

To celebrate his birthday, Andrew stayed home from school. Fun, right?

Well, he has bronchitis. Poor kid. Whatta birthday.

In other news: "The Passion of the Christ" was intense. Graphically, emotionally, even physically. I highly recommend it. I cried, my 3 friends cried (1 of which is non-religious), my family cried, my friend's family cried... it was a tearjerker. To give you an idea of the tears shed: there were tissue boxes set up in the stairwells for people to use. The lady who sat 2 seats to my left started crying in the opening credits.. as in "Directed by Mel Gibson" (commence bawling).

And the movie is based on true events, no less. Crazyness.

Without giving anything any, to those of you who may go see it, be prepared to either cringe, cry, puke, or look away during these parts (in order of amount of cringing and looking away, most intense to least intense): the flogging, especially the cat-of-nine tails; the nailing during the crucifixion; and the crown of thorns.

Basically, the whole premise of the movie is the violence (hence the name), not about the reason Christ came and died. I think there should have been more spiritual emphasis. If Mel Gibson was out to win souls for Christ, I think he could have done a better job in terms of explaining why Jesus died, not just how he died.

Also notable in the movie: the Devil and his (or her? a female played the part of Satan in the movie) minions/demons were unbelivably FREAKY. In case you don't recognize him/her/it, Satan is the blue-shaded woman with no eyebrows and a hood.

I don't know if this will make sense, but here goes: in the movie, Pontius Pilate (the governor to whom Jesus is sent to be sentenced) is portrayed as cowardly, whereas in reality, while he may have been a coward in some situations, overall he was an evil, dastardly man. I personally thought his portrayal could have been better.

Lastly, the actor who plays Jesus (James Caviezel) has the initials, as you will notice, of "J.C." He was 33 years old when he filmed the movie, the same age that Christ was when he died.

Coincedence? I think not.

my hands are at your throat and i think i hate you..

Such ambigously vague, violent lyrics for such a sweet song...

Let me re-emphasize (if that isn't a word, it is now... 'cuz I just made it one) how important it is for one's self to ACT like one's self...

I believe word may have gotten out, and said person is acting differently around me... it's unbelievably frustrating.

I need to keep my mouth shut more often.
